An earthquake is disturbances set off
by sudden release of elastic strain. It is also simply known as a shaking of
ground by kinetic energy as different waves travels through earth’s materials.
It is the devastating effort of nature. Due to the development of rupture
surface because of compressing forces obtain from plate movements results this
energy mainly. About 90% of the all earthquake occurred from tectonic events
while the remaining 10% are resulted from volcanism, collapse of subterranean
cavities or human activities.
The point or area within the earth
where this energy is first initiated is known as focus. The point or area on
the surface of the earth directly above the focus is called epicenter. During
the occurrence of earthquake there will be release of high amount of
accumulating strain. However, in many cases the accumulating strain is
partially released locally as small earthquakes is known as foreshocks which is
an indicator the strain energy is building up to the rupture level and larger
earthquake is about to happen.
Most of the stored energy released,
when an earthquake occurs. However, after the large earthquake there may be
numerous less shocks known as aftershocks for weeks or months. Some of the
earthquake is comparable in size to the main earthquake. Its energy is recorded
in graph is called seismograph. Seismogram is the instrument to measure its
energy released.
Earthquake is one of the destroying
natural agent due to which causes loss of life, property harmony, peace, etc.
We can escape from its effects by making the flexible spring stored houses ,
alert, housing style, etc.
